JAZMIN

Where are you from? I am originally from Irapuato Guanajuato, México.

What did you study in college? I pursued a degree in International Relations and History, where I developed a deep understanding of the English and Spanish languages and their cultural contexts. My academic experience provided me with a strong foundation for my teaching career.

How would you describe your teaching style? My teaching style is communicative, student-centered, and adaptable. I focus on creating a supportive learning environment that encourages active participation, practical language use, and real-world communication. I aim to engage the learning process while catering to my students' diverse needs.

What's your favorite part of teaching Spanish, and why is language practice important? My favorite part of teaching Spanish is seeing my students gain confidence in using the language to express themselves. Language practice is crucial because it allows students to internalize vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation, making their language skills more natural and fluent. Regular practice also helps build cultural understanding.

How do you balance fun and professionalism in your classes? A balance between enjoyment and professionalism is key to a productive learning environment. I incorporate interactive activities, games, and multimedia to keep the lessons engaging and dynamic while maintaining high expectations for student performance and respect. This combination fosters both a positive atmosphere and an effective learning experience.

How do you stay motivated and keep improving as a teacher? I stay motivated by continuously exploring new teaching strategies, attending professional development workshops, and seeking feedback from my students. I also believe in the importance of lifelong learning, which inspires me to adapt my methods and stay current with the latest trends in language teaching.

What advice would you give to beginners learning Spanish? My advice to beginners is to focus on building a solid foundation in the basics—grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation—while also practicing regularly. Language learning requires consistency, so I recommend dedicating daily time to listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish. Most importantly, don't be afraid to make mistakes, as they are essential to learning.

What do you enjoy most about teaching a language? What I enjoy most about teaching a language is the ability to help students connect with a new culture, express themselves differently, and open doors to new opportunities. Witnessing their growth and progress as they move from basic comprehension to more complex expression is incredibly rewarding.
